A LESSON LEARNED - PART 3

"And they say it's the WHITE man I should fear/but it's my OWN KIND doing all the killing here"-Tupac-Only God Can Judge Me

Sadly, racism and hate will exist until the end of days. It's a harsh reality that our grandchildren will have to endure. The twisted thing about racism and hate is that they don't discriminate- they believe in spreading to all races to every race (a perverted version of "unity"). One of the scariest things about racism and hate within the African American culture is that we don't need any help from other outside races-we do a good job of hating each other on our own.

In hip hop, we HEAR how the "white man" is holding us back, but we SEE how "blacks" bring each other down every chance they get. All of the major "beefs" in hip hop have always been black against black. Now, let's address the elephant in the room-Eminem. Many of his "beefs" were actually him coming back for retaliation. Eminem was a battle rapper and a equal opportunist-meaning he would diss any and everyone regardless of color, gender, religious background, etc. As a matter of fact, Eminem usually poked fun at people who were mainly in pop culture (mainly white people). So, we can say that Eminem can be removed from this lesson. All of the hateful attacks on black rappers or emcees have come from other black artists and emcees. One minute the message is "Stop black on black crime" and the next is "we murking anybody that is hating or trying to stop us". There was once upon a time in the golden era of hip hop, when beefing was all fun. Now, not only are they attacking physically and below the belt-but even attack family members and friends of the artists. I have even seen/heard some holy hip hop artists that actually "beef" with other artists or with pastors....what part of the game is that? How do we expect people to see us as mature, when we're continue doing childish things?

We have to come out of this "crab in a bucket" mentality! I got a reality check for some artists-the reason why you are still in the hood isn't because of the white man. Rather then investing in yourself and career, you spend your money on useless things and when you see someone make it out your hood..you hate on them. Many artists feel as though the white man doesn't like to see black people make money-but a lot of black people don't like to see black people make money/success! How come we see so many black owned companies fail, while so many white companies thrive? Because, we don't like to support each other. If there are 15 artists in your area and you drop a CD-then within your first day sales, you should have at least 14 sales. Fact-70 percent of hip hop is purchased (not bootlegged) by whites. Some whites are putting more into hip hop to support it, then some of it's own black artists. As soon as a artist gets big, we bring them down and back into the bucket.

I know this is a tough subject to cover and one lesson can't even truly scratch the surface(trust me, this subject will be covered again). However, the lesson to be learned from this bar, is to stop living in the past of hate and racism and focus what you can do within your hip hop community to progress it. We don't need any extra excuses of why we are not advancing. Just think-what if all black artists supported each other...fade to black.

SHA STIMULI - INTERVIEW WITH MICROPHONE BULLY

1. 1st off Sha how are you feeling today?
I'm good. I can't complain too too much.

2. Last week, what was the most enlightening thing you posted on "Monday rambles"?
I posted something about Valentine's Day last week. I was kind of just venting from the perspective of someone that didn't have a love on the supposed love day. A lot of people had comments about what they thought about Vday. Some folks get really depressed about being alone. I posted something this week about sleeping with single mothers. Check it out sometime.

3. What's has the response for the "Who I am" video been like?
People dig the video from what I read and heard. I thought it came together pretty cool. I really want to do some vids that express more of who I am (no pun intended). That one was close but I didn't get there just yet. But yea we were getting like 2k views a day without promoting it really so what can I say? Not bad.

4. What is your thoughts on record labels?
Major labels? I dont know. I dont have much of a thought about them. It's interesting how labels are signing artists and keeping it quiet so that artists can still be viewed as independent. I dont think we need labels like we used to. If you can find ways to eat without them then great. Katy Perry and Lady Gaga got dropped by majors. They dont always know what to do with artists. And as someone that avoided the indie world because I was targeting the majors, I see the difference. Get ya fans however you can.

5. How did you hook up with coast 2 coast Mixtapes?
I hooked up with Lil Fats back at the end of 2008 when I was doing a mixtape a month. We worked out a plan where I was doing a verse a week for 26 weeks with them on their tapes. Since then, Fats and I have been rocking. So when we decided to do this CD it was a no brainer.

6. What's some advice you could give to inspiring independent artists?
Indie artists should figure out what they want to say, how they want to reach people and do it. Or don't do it at all. It's not just about getting buzz, it's about knowing who you are so your buzz stays. So you can walk away, come back, be who you are and not look back. Being independent means you control your own career for the most part. It's a lot of work but it can pay off if you focus.

7. What the next move for you Sha?
I have a new deal on the table, a book deal, I'm writing for a few websites, and I'm dropping The Breakup part 2: The Proposal in March...stay tuned. Shastimuli.com, twitter.com/shastimuli, mondayramble.com

CHARLES BARKLEY - I MAY BE WRONG - (PRODUCED BY COOL AND DRE)

Charles Barkley, former NBA Sixers and TNT Commentator Has a Rap video , I enjoyed watching this. To me it was just 1 more step towards Hip-Hop taking over the world lol "I MAY BE WRONG - BUT I DOUBT IT"

A LESSON LEARNED - PART 2

"Truth brings light, light refracts off the mirror, visions of yourself and error could never be clearer. The truth is that you ugly, not on the outside, but in the inside, on the outside you fronting you lovely" Pharoahe Monch, The truth

Honestly, I don't think people want to be honest anymore! There was once upon a time, when emcees didn't have to lie in their rhymes (i wasn't trying to do that). Now, it seems as though lying and being fake on your tracks is normal. Nothing hurts hip hop or the fans more than to find out that a artist is fake or lying to them. Microphone bullies have reality checks.

First off, we got to understand that the phrase "keeping it real" is a double standard. What is real or reality to you may not be real or reality to me. Reality check-you can't tell someone their not real, because they aren't like you. If a artist comes from the "burbs", that doesn't mean they aren't real. If a white artist comes out, just because he is white-doesn't mean he's not real. We don't pick our realities. All we can do is adjust and work with them for better or worse. We owe it to the fans and audience to rap according to the reality we are currently living in. On the flip side, don't try to lie to the people and claim a reality that isn't yours. If your paying people-ghost writer,DJ's,websites, paying for fans,etc- to get yourself into a higher position..get a reality check.

Pharoahe Monch delivers a beautiful Revelation on self through a mirror. I want to flip this revelation and give a different standpoint. I walk up to a mirror and decide to take a look into it, only to find that it is dusty. The question comes in play...am I dirty or is my reflection dirty? Some people only see the reflection of the artists, so what are they seeing from yours? Technology allows people to get more up and personal with their stars and if someone catches you on a interview or video doing something out of your character...is that you or a reflection of who you really are? Pharoahe Monch tells us "visions of yourself and error could never be clearer", so when is the last time you were in error? If you got a problem with what I'm saying...then go look in the mirror.

The world is dark and there is only one thing that changes that...truth. Pharoahe Monch tells us "Truth brings light", so as microphone bullies, we should always be bringing the truth/light. However, we can't do that fronting. We can look all good on the outside, but eventually the ugly on the inside will come out. We should be looking in the mirror daily and getting a reality check...because that check pays off in the end.

It is official, Rick Ross took to his twitter page to announce that his Maybach Music Group has signed a deal with Warner Bros. There had been a huge bidding war as to who Ross and his fellow artists would settle down with and the choice has finally been made.
