LEGENDARY RAPPER HEAVY D DIES AT 44

Rapper Heavy D, Dwight Arrington Myers, also known for his group Heavy D and the boys in the 90's died early yesterday after having collapsed after breathing problems. He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead at 1 pm, he was 44 years old.

Sources say Heavy D was walking up a couple stairs but leaned against a railing then began to look distressed as if he could not breathe. They say he may have had a heart attack, but no foul play was involved. His weight may have been an issue as he was 300 lbs when he died, further investigations are under way.

Heavy D was known for popular hits including "Now That We Found Love," and also wrote and performed the theme song to the show In Living Color. He also played a role as an actor in the movie Life. He had just performed at the BET Awards show, and looked great on stage. He will be greatly missed. Here are some classics from the OG.

  2. Aww this one really hurt! He was def a positive role model growing up! He did what he loved and never tried to conform to what was the current trend he was just HEAVY D <3 ... For that I looked up to him because he proved that being who you are destined to become and loving who YOU are is success enough! May he forever rest in peace! He touched sooo many lives so his LEGACY will forever live on! #Salute <3 *RiP*

  4. RIP Heavy D! This was one of the saddest events in 2011. Especially so soon after Joe Frazier passed away. He put a lot of people on the map and I always loved his music! :-) Thanks for posting this article!
